Promotional gifts - choosing the right gift (small business coaching)
No commentsBy Jamie Hanson
Business owners adopt various promotional strategies to outshine their competition and gain a competitive edge over others. In the present economic scenario, where marketing budgets are limited, most business owners are looking for cost-effective ways to promote their businesses. One such effective promotional strategy is using Promotional gifts to advertise your brand. This is the best way to please all your potential customers too, since they will appreciate a well-suited and thoughtful gift. A gift reminds the receiver about the special day when their received it - be it an exhibition or a personal meeting with your representative. Huge business organisations and business entities have understood this philosophy and adopted producing gifts for their clients as a promotional strategy to create a positive impression about their company.
There are various types of promotional gifts available in the market, such as pens, mouse mats, T-shirts, carrier bags, diaries and calendars, notepads, torches, umbrellas, USB flashdrives, glass and crystal awards, key holders and many more. A company can customise the promotional gift to promote their image. They may imprint their brand name and company logo with a promotional message. In this way the promotional gift acts as a link between the company and potential clients; therefore, it should reveal essential contact information about the company and about what it offers. When choosing a promotional gift, companies need to think about certain basic factors like:
- Product Utility: The promotional gift you choose to promote your company brand should be useful to the client. It ought to be taken advantage of by the client so that it reminds them about your company as well as creates strong brand awareness if used longer. Your client’s friends, colleagues and relatives may also appreciate the promotional product given by your company and having read the promotional message or company logo they may become your customer too.
- Product Appearance: The promotional product that one receives as a gift ought to be appealing to the eyes. It should look pleasant and good quality to keep or carry around. People enjoy looking at pretty things, so if your promotional product looks great, people will be eager to use it and would like to know more about your business. It is worth remembering that it is best to keep things simple and sometimes to keep your logo small and not too overwhelming to encourage it’s users to make the best of it. Alternatively you may choose to apply a colourful, big and intricate design to make that special impact with your gift and make it the most talked-about item.
- Product Quality: Remember, it is the quality of the product that lasts and creates a longstanding impression about your company. You should choose a promotional gift that reflects your company’s great services or product range so that people recollect your company name with positive attitude. Moreover, if the promotional product is of good quality, it is bound to last longer, which will bring more repeat business.
- Product Price: Price is a major factor that will dominate your selection of promotional products. Usually, promotional products are affordable as you get great discounts on bulk purchases. It is advisable to set yourself a budget and aim to exhaust it. In this way you will be able to give your clients the best item you can afford - thus showing how much you care for them.
Promotional gifts will act as a reminder to your present customer as well as to future potential clients. Therefore, choose a promotional gift that is attractive, useable, of good quality and affordable.

Doing it Like They Do on the Discovery Channel
By Craig Garrett
No, this is not going to be a racy article, but it is a valid comparison of the topic at hand. For those who are native English speakers, that phrase in my title usually has to do with reproduction. That’s a topic I want to discuss with you in your home business.
When I got started thinking about my home business, I came from a technical background. I got to thinking about all the complex ways I would leverage my skills and setup a marketing system for my home business that would be ….well in my opinion, genius.
I got to figuring out all of how I was going to put this system together, and then it dawned on me as I was listening to a trainer in the home business area. This trainer was making the point that when attracting people to your home business, they have to see at least two things right from the beginning: The first is abbreviated like a radio station - WIIFM - or What’s in it for Me?
The second thing people want to see is that they can do it too! It hit me at that point that if I was working on some great marketing system that took a lot of the skills I have been blessed with, then it would require someone with at least as much technical skill as me to reproduce what I had done.
That’s why I picked the title. Reproduction is vital to many home businesses that are leveraged or networked. Whatever system you use for your home business, if you want others to join in and have success, then they have to be able to reproduce what you have done.
Whatever system you have for marketing your business opportunity has to be reproducible. Not only is it not a good idea to use some very complex technical system, it is also a bad idea to invest some huge amount of money into marketing, and then expect to attract people into your home business that want to be able to do it with little money.
If you haven’t yet joined a home business opportunity, be aware of the process you go through when you learn about one and decide if it is for you. Look for one that has a very reproducible system for growing your home business. If you can find that, then you have more of a mass appeal to many people from all walks of life and economic statuses.
No matter how good a product is, or how great a compensation plan offered, make sure every part of this home business opportunity is reproducible by the type of people you are looking to as your market. From marketing to enrolling to training - the best system is easy to use, and won’t scare people away or discourage them. Keep looking, there are many reproducible businesses out there!

Is Your Computer Running Slow? Speed It Up For Free!
By Simon Burdett
Over the years I’ve use computers, I have noticed a pattern: the longer I’ve owned a Notebook, the slower it appears to run!
A lot of people will keep their notebook until it gets so slow that they think they need a newer, faster model. This is not always the reason.
Some think like the basis it is getting slower is since it is getting older, when this is clearly not the reason. There is no reason why your notebook shouldn’t be running just as fast as when you first switched it on! - all you need do is apply these 8 simple steps, and your PC will be operating as it have to be! - that is, not freezing up! laptop.
1. You must clear your Tempory Files on a regular basis, at least once a week to be safe. You need to empty this storage space, since it gets filled up with junk files your PC just doesn’t need to run, usually from startup. This will slow your computer’s processing ability, or run-time, in this manner slowing down the launching of your programs and applications. To empty your Temporary Internet Files, you go to your Control Panel and double-click the Internet Options icon. Then choose to Delete Cookies and Delete Files. This will empty all of your Temporary Internet Files.
2. To further speed up your pc, close down any programs you aren’t using. Unused applications and/or programs that you leave running simply eat up your pc’s run-time, or processing speed, thereby slowing down everything else.
3. Scan your hard disk(s) for problems. In commonly, the majority PC’S only have one hard disk, while you can buy another peripheral hardrive for extra storage space.
For a Windows 95 onwards, double-click My notebook. Right-click your C-drive, and then click on Properties. Click on the Tools tab and choose to check your PC for problems. For Windows 2000 and XP, double-click My computer. Right-click the C-drive and click Properties, then click on the Tools tab. If you choose to do a Thorough Scan, this will check your pc’s hardware for any physical disk damage or sector damage. You may then choose to fix any errors it finds. Click on Check Now. You will then have two check boxes. The top preference is for the file check, and the second option is for the hardware (physical disk) check. Check either one, or both. At least check the top one. Hit OK, reboot your computer, then let it run
4. If you can’t pay for software to tune up your PC for you, they can be pricey, if you have Windows XP, you can streamline the performance yourself. By default, unfortunately,EVERYTHING is turned on in Windows XP. It isnt very well-organized for performance, but rather for appearance. That’s just Windows for you, like it or leave it. You can turn off a few of the unessential features, and Windows will still work just as well, and maybe a little faster.
To do this, right-click on My notebook and click on Properties. Click on the Advanced tab. Under the Performance section, click on the Settings button. On the Visual Effects tab, you will see a list of check boxes. By default, these are all on. You really dont need any of them for Windows to run. Go through the check boxes one by one, and determine which ones you can and couldn’t live without.
6. Use a good AntiVirus program to stop viruses from taking over your system, such Norton 360, which I use.
7. Block Spyware. Most PC users have Spyware and dont even know it, and when they’re PC alerts them to this fact, they have no idea how to get rid of it. If you’ve been taken to websites that you had no intention of going to or you get pop-ups when you arent even on the Internet, or if your notebook has been running extremely slowly lately, for no basis, you most likely have Spyware.
In some cases, when the Spyware has become too entangled into your system, at this point, all you can do is just backup your essentials, and do a total re-boot of your notebook’s operating system. This is the ultimate, extreme act, only to be done if you have (a) backed up everything first, and (b) feel you have no other option. It is a difficult thing to do, belive me on this, because you know you will only have to set up your laptop exactly the way you like it, and this takes time. Again, this is a last resort, so look into all other avenues ahead of doing this.
8. Finally, Defragment your hard drive(s). NOTE: Your PC needs to have at at minimum 25% of free space for the Defragmentation to execute. The defragmentation will still work with only 15% free space, but it can take quite a bit longer. If you can, delete any unnecessary files before deframenting your drives.
a. To defragment your hard drives (in any Windows operating system), double-click on My Notebook, then right-click on the C-drive and click on Properties. Click on the Tools tab and choose the bottom button, to Defragment Now
If you follow these steps, your PC have to start to run a lot faster and more efficiently. It in all probability won’t be running at the speed when it was new; that takes the purchasing of registry cleaning program for that, or an IT person to “clean it out” for you.
Happy ‘puting, everyone!
